we live each day among the same objects in the same spaces. keys, wallets, sunglasses, and phones are returned to familiar places. within this repetition, objects become part of the scenery.
these works look at that familiar landscape from another angle through mirrors. shelves that reflect the tops of objects, mirrors visible only from a diagonal view, and continuous reflections that connect one compartment to the next all reveal new relationships between objects, people, and space.
a mirror is completed only when someone places their belongings on it and traces of daily life begin to accumulate. side view waits for that moment of completion. it makes visible what might otherwise go unnoticed, quietly holding everyday life against the wall.
우리는 매일 같은 공간에서 같은 물건들과 함께 살아간다. 열쇠, 지갑, 선글라스, 휴대폰
등 손에 익은 것들이 늘 같은 자리에 놓인다. 그 익숙함 속에서 물건들은 풍경이 되고,
배경이 된다.
이번 작업은 거울을 통해 그 익숙한 풍경을 다른 각도에서 바라보는
시도다. 여러 사람이 함께 사용하는 거울, 물건의 윗면을 반사시켜 보여주는 선반,
정면이 아닌 사선에서만 보이는 거울, 칸과 칸 사이를 자연스럽게 이어주는 연속된 반사.
이 작업들은 거울이라는 매개를 통해 물건과 사람, 그리고 공간 사이의 관계를 새롭게
드러낸다.
거울은 누군가의 물건이 올려지고, 누군가의 일상이 쌓일 때 비로소 완성된다. Side
View는 그 완성의 순간을 기다리는 작업이다. 보이지 않던 것을 보이게 하고,
흘려보내던 일상을 벽 위에 조용히 붙들어두는 것. 거울은 그렇게 완성된다.
